NEWS AND INSIGHTS

Moravian Day of Giving 2025

Since its launch in 2021, the Moravian Day of Giving has become a cherished tradition, uniting Moravians across North America to support ministries and missions close to our hearts. On March 4, 2025, we mark five years of inspired giving—a milestone of faith, hope, and generosity.

Together We Give:

Rooted in Faith, United by Love, Filled with Hope.

The Moravian Day of Giving began with a simple yet transformative idea: unite Moravians in a day of collective generosity to encourage giving over and beyond traditional tithes and pledges. Over the years, the event has grown into a powerful movement, amplified by matching contributions and organizational incentives that make every gift go further.

FAQ

What does “Unique Individual Donors” mean?

To ensure fairness and maximize the impact of the $2,500 participation prizes, it’s important to understand how unique individual donors are counted. MMFA will award $2,500 to the five Moravian organizations (churches, agencies, camps, etc.) that have the most unique individual donors during the Moravian Day of Giving. Here’s how it works:

  • Each Individual Must Donate to Their Organization of Choice
    • If you want your church or favorite Moravian organization to receive credit, you must make a donation directly to that organization.
    • Being a member of a church does not automatically mean your church gets credit if you donate to a different Moravian organization.
    • If you donate to more than one organization in a single transaction, all organizations will receive credit for your participation.
  • Household Donations
    • When donating, select the “individual” option to ensure each donation is tied to one name at a time.
    • Donations made as a household will count as one unique donor.
    • To count as two unique donors, each family member or spouse must make separate donations.

Example

You’re a member of East Hills Moravian Church, but you also want to support other Moravian organizations:

  • On March 4, 2025, you donate $20 to East Hills Moravian Church and $20 to the Board of World Mission.
    • You will count as one unique donor for East Hills and one unique donor for the Board of World Mission.
  • If you only donate to the Board of World Mission and not East Hills, then only the Board of World Mission will receive credit for your participation.
  • If you and your spouse want to support East Hills and be counted as two unique donors, you must each make separate donations.

Yes, you can send in a check, but we highly recommend donating through the Moravian Giving Portal for a faster and easier process. Online donations ensure your gift is immediately counted toward participation prizes and matching contributions.

If you prefer to send a check, here’s what you need to know:

  • Checks Must Be Received by MMFA Before March 4, 2025:
    • To count toward participation prizes and matching gifts, your check must arrive at MMFA before the Day of Giving.
  • Include Specific Donation Details:
    • Make the check payable to MMFA.
    • Clearly indicate the organization(s) you wish to support in the memo line.
    • If multiple donors are included in one check, list all individual donors and specify how much each individual donated and the organization(s) they wish to support

Stories of Inspiration

Rooted in faith, united in love, and inspired by hope, the Moravian Day of Giving reflects the heart of our community. This year, we’re celebrating five years of transformative generosity—and together, we can create an even brighter future, one gift at a time.

Below, you’ll see images from past recipients of our Field of Interest (FOI) Fund grants, highlighting the real-world impact of your generosity. Every dollar donated to an FOI fund goes directly to ministries through our grant program.

We’re thrilled to announce that matching donors have pledged support for all FOI funds, up to $2,500 per fund. With your help, we have the potential to unlock an additional $5,000 in grants for each FOI fund. Together, we can make this happen!

Together We Give....

The Moravian Day of Giving is a testament to the life-changing impact of generosity. Take Common Grace, for example—a 2023 incentive winner. With their prize, they expanded community events, supported local schools, and grew a food pantry garden. As Rev. Staci Marrese-Wheeler shared:

“The joy of giving became a ministry in itself.”

Your story can inspire others, too! Share who or what motivates your generosity by emailing Hanna Jackson at hjackson@mmfa.com by March 1, 2025.

If you have any questions, comments, or issues, please reach out to MMFA through our Contact Us form or call us at 336.725.2589. We’re here to help make your participation in the Moravian Day of Giving seamless and rewarding!
