Board of World Mission
Your gifts to the Moravian Health & Healing Field of Interest Fund last year were put to good use! A $2,700 grant to the Moravian Board of World Mission for medical treatments helped save lives at the Clínica Evangélica Morava in Honduras. Your gifts through the Moravian Ministries Foundation in America (MMFA) to all Field of Interest Funds made more than $30k in grants possible to support Moravian ministry last year. The first $10k of your gifts to these funds on the 2021 Moravian Day of Giving through the Giving Portal were matched by Sister Sallie Greenfield. The Board of World Mission was one of four grant recipients from the Health & Healing Field of Interest Fund. Other recipients included: You Belong (WI), John Hus Moravian Church (NY) and the Armando Rusindo Mission Foundation (NC).
In 2021, the Clínica Evangélica Morava celebrated its 75th anniversary of providing needed medical care in the remote region of La Mosquitia, Honduras. Now, as the Clinic prepares for its next 75 years, the generosity of Moravians around the world has made it possible for the Ahuas Committee to set up an anniversary fund, which will help the Clinic maintain the level of support needed well into the future. Current funding has supported the purchase of a new ultrasound machine and other items, which will be shipped soon to Honduras. Additionally, monthly transfers support the ongoing, life-saving work of the Clinic, including supplying medicines to be distributed to patients, providing meals through the Clinic’s Infant Feeding Program, and assisting with the many expenses associated with running a high-quality medical facility.
The 2022 Moravian Day of Giving is March 1. Your gifts through the Giving Portal on that day will be matched by different donors. Funds collected in the Field of Interest Funds on that day and throughout the year will make grants possible to a wide variety of ministries. Current Field of Interest Funds include: Hunger & Thirst, Housing & Shelter, Clothing, Prison Ministry, Health & Healing, Environmental Stewardship, Prevention of Violence Against Women, and Racial Equity, Awareness, & Reconciliation. We hope you will find it in your heart to support Moravian ministry again this year!
