An Invitation to Serve

The Grant Advisory Committee (GAC) is a critical component of MMFA’s granting process as it objectively evaluates all grant applications and collaboratively makes well-informed funding recommendations to the MMFA Board.

Each Grant Advisory Committee member serves a four-year term; once a year the team receives field of interest fund applications from MMFA staff, utilizes an online rubric for grant review, and then meets via Zoom to make grant award recommendations.

We are currently looking for one volunteer from the Southern Province willing to commit the time and dedication needed to serve on the GAC (term to begin in 2025). If you or someone you know is passionate about the Moravian Church and would like to be directly involved with the impact of Moravian generosity, let us know!

Grant Advisory Committee members should be:

  • reliable
  • responsive
  • able to articulate their opinions
  • open to others’ ideas
  • comfortable with group decision-making
  • active in or serving a Moravian ministry in the United States

MMFA strives to appoint a team that is diverse in terms of geographic representation, gender, ethnicity, age, and culture. Because of the need to form a well-balanced group, we may not be able to consider all qualified people who are interested in serving. However, it is very helpful to have a pool of candidates for future years.

If you would like to serve or nominate someone for service on MMFA’s Grant Advisory Committee, please contact Laura Watson, Vice President/Director of Programs.

The current team members are:

  • Caroline Averitt
  • Rev. Jane Gehler
  • Bill Matz
  • John Mickey
  • Kelly Pearson
  • Zach Routh (term ending 12/31/24)
  • Chris Spaugh
  • Pam Streich
  • David Whittle
