5 churches + 80 volunteers + 6,000 dollars = 15,120 meals!

Through a $6,000 Hunger & Thirst grant awarded by MMFA, and the help of 80 volunteers from 5 churches, the South Branch RCC was able to package 15,120 meals to the Philippines! They partnered with Rise Against Hunger, an organization working to end hunger in remote, last-mile communities through meal packaging events. Rise Against Hunger provides rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and packets with 20 vitamins and minerals to be transformed into nourishing, shelf-stable meals.

The South Branch RCC consists of Advent, Community Fellowship, Hope, Hopewell, and Konnoak Hills Moravian Churches, all of which worked together in fellowship to accomplish this amazing event. From obtaining volunteers, to providing a space for the event and getting refreshments for the 80 volunteers, the churches collaborated to produce over 15,000 meals. “The event gave our five churches the opportunity to fellowship and pack meals for people in other countries who are not as fortunate as we are to have and grow food to provide for the people who live there,” says Ginger Haynes of South Branch RCC.

We thank the South Branch RCC for their dedication to fighting against hunger through their ministries. MMFA also expresses our continued gratitude for our donors; your selflessness helps us to support events like these that truly change lives.
