Welcome, New Grant Advisory Committee Members!

We are excited to welcome two new members to MMFA’s Grant Advisory Committee: David Whittle and Jane Gehler.

David Whittle

David Whittle is a member of Faith Moravian Church in Washington D.C. During his twenty plus years there, he has served on the Board of Trustees and is currently the Financial Comptroller, as well as part of the men’s fellowship group.

Professionally David is an accountant and consultant for the Department of Justice, where his work involves business process reengineering, accounting, and auditing. His degrees in accounting/economics, finance, and international business are put to good use for the DOJ.

When he’s not at work, David enjoys a good game of chess and watching basketball, as well as spending time with his wife and two children.

Rev. Jane Gehler

Rev. Jane Gehler is the Director of Spiritual Care at The Marquardt, a senior living community and agency of the Western District of the Moravian Church. She joined the Moravian Church in 1989 and began her ministry in 2001 as a part-time local-licensed pastor at the London Moravian Church in Cambridge, WI while attending Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL for her Masters of Divinity. Jane also served a full-time call to parish ministry at the Ebenezer Moravian Church in Watertown, WI and the Unionville Moravian Church in Unionville MI. She accepted her call to Specialized Ministry at The Marquardt in 2018.

In addition to serving in parish and specialized ministry, Jane also serves on the Western District Candidacy Review Committee and Clergy Emergency Assistance Fund Advisory Board, and is a past member of the Western District Executive Board, the Mount Morris Board of Directors, and the Western District Camping Ministry Board. She is currently enrolled at Moravian Seminary taking classes to receive a certificate in Spiritual Direction.

About the Grant Advisory Committee

MMFA’s Grant Advisory Committee (GAC) is responsible for evaluating grant applications and recommending to the MMFA Board of Trustees which applications should receive grant funding. The GAC is appointed by the MMFA Board and consists of at least one MMFA trustee, one MMFA staff member, and no fewer than five additional members.

We thank all members of the GAC for their service (see below for the 2024 committee roster). We also thank Sue Dreydoppel and Rev. Jenny Moran whose terms end 12/31/23.
